Semi-Private Respite Care
In this project, the client requested an alternative proposal/prototype study for converting four typical 4-bed rooms into eight semi-private bedrooms for respite care. The new rooms are to create a home-like environment which ensures the safety of the residents and enhances well-being in a holistic manner. This solution used evidence-based design to provide a beneficial approach - the central room divider created a unique and modular division containing movable and multi-functional furniture allowing the user to customize their space to fit their individual needs. The nature-patterned glass on each side of the divider is soothing to the resident and follows a circadian lighting rhythm which gives natural cues of when to sleep and wake up.
