"HOME OFFICE"
GATES' FAMILY LOFT
The project was to design an environmental and sustainable 1, 750 square foot loft for the Gates Family. This couple looked to the designer to provide a concept the re-evaluates how they live, and to explore both active and passive ‘green’ design strategies. The concept for this design was "Home Office", and was sustainable in itself as the client was able to work from home and reduce travel times and emissions as well as control waste and consumption. The large open-air light well provided natural light throughout the day and reduced the need for excessive electricity. Sustainable materials were used throughout such as reclaimed brick, concrete floor for thermal mass, and triple pane glass for insulation. This loft design utilizes 3 floors that curate views in order to separate public/work areas from private/home areas.
